Honor Magic V2: Innovative Design with Great Display

We believed the foldable phone from HONOR, the Magic Vs, was a promising alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 when it was introduced at MWC 2023 earlier this year. The alleged HONOR Magic V2 specifications have already surfaced, and it appears that the future foldable will fix two significant Magic Vs shortcomings.

Magic V2 Design

When folded, the Magic V2 is 9.9mm long and 4.7mm wide. This is the first foldable that resembles a book and has a folded thickness of less than 10mm (or 1cm). Even the incredibly small foldables from Xiaomi and Huawei measure 11mm when closed, while Google's Pixel Fold is thicker than 12mm. But it's not simply the thinness. The Magic V2 is merely 231g in weight. This weighs around 30g less than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 and 52g less than the Google Pixel Fold. Just have a look at the side-by-side images of the foldables.

Magic V2 Battery & Chipset

You may assume Honor has skimped on some components with a gadget this unbelievably thin. That is not true. In actuality, the Magic V2's foldables' batteries (5,000 mAh) are greater than those of Samsung or Google. In addition, it features the most recent Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, bigger and brighter screens, and more RAM (16GB). Still, the storage you get is not enough for saving your videos and photos, make sure to download the Smart Transfer app to delete duplicate photos with simple steps. In particular, the battery component is outstanding. Honor had to develop its own silicon-carbon battery technology with a better energy density in order to make the phone that small. This implies that a battery cell with a lower overall size can contain more energy. And the Magic V2's batteries are very slim, much like the phone itself.

Magic V2 Display Hidden Specs

  • Five cameras in total: two 16GB selfie cameras and a triple lens system with a 50+50+20 arrangement.

  • Display: 6.4-inch outside screen and 7.9-inch main folding panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio.

  • Maximum brightness: Outer screen has 2600 nits, the highest in the current market.

  • Refresh rates: Up to 120Hz for both screens.

Summary

Support for 66W wired and 50W wireless charging will be included with the Magic V2. This is a significant improvement over the Magic Vs, which had no wireless charging capabilities at all. Otherwise, according to the leaker, you can anticipate a 2K LTPO foldable screen, a 5,000mAh battery, and a slim and light construction. Since the Magic Vs is still a relatively recent release in Europe, there is still no official announcement on the HONOR Magic V2's global release or availability data.
