Xiaomi’s Redmi 12 5G: Packed with a Powerful Chipset

When it comes to affordable smartphones, very few companies can compete with Xiaomi. With the introduction of an excellent price 5G smartphone that has a brand-new Qualcomm processor, Xiaomi is attempting to maintain its position in the low-cost market. The brand just introduced the Redmi 12 5G in India, which includes a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 CPU. With modest design tweaks, the Redmi Note 12R and POCO M6 Pro 5G brandings will shortly make their global debuts. Let’s take a look at all the latest features you get with this phone in 2023.

Redmi 12 5G Design

The Redmi 12 5G has a 6.79-inch FHD LCD screen with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The gadget has Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the front and rear.  The smartphone also has an 8MP front camera with an aperture of 2.0. A gorgeously designed dual-camera module with a main 50MP f/1.8 camera and a 2MP depth sensor is located on the back of the device. A massive 5,000 mAh battery with 18W wired charging speed powers the Redmi 12. The packaging has a 22.5W charger, which is a little unexpected in the modern world. It features a 3.5mm audio connection, which is another surprise addition, and an IP53 rating. The phone will run MIUI 14, which is based on Android 13.

Redmi 12 5G Storage

In this phone, the new processor will be combined with 4GB/6GB/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and possibilities for 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage. There is a hybrid SIM slot and a microSD slot (up to 1TB) available. If you are thinking about where to copy my data from an older device, the Redmi 12 5G is the ideal phone to shift large content including apps, photos, and videos with the Smart Transfer app without facing any issues. Contrary to the Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, which was created using TSMC's 6nm technology, the recently unveiled Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset is built using Samsung's 4nm process. Therefore, a minor increase in efficiency is anticipated. Additionally, the chipset offers stronger 5G compatibility than its forerunners.

Bottom Line

For the 4GB/128GB variant, the Redmi 12 5G begins at 11,999 INR ($145). If you want extra storage space and RAM, there are more models available. The 6GB/128GB model will cost you ($165) while the 8GB/256GB is another available option.  On August 4th, the sale will start in India on both online and physical venues. There are three color options for the Redmi 12 5G; Jade Black, Pastel Blue, and Moonstone Silver. The Redmi 12 5G is a good example of the sort of low-cost smartphones we may anticipate with the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor.
